From Mountains to Classrooms
In May 2026, AKHRI successfully completed its 3rd Hike for Girls’ Education, with a team of eight dedicated hikers reaching the summit of Mount Kenya in support of literacy and education for women and girls.
This journey was more than a climb, it was a commitment to creating opportunities through education. Together, our hikers, donors, sponsors, and supporters helped raise more than $15,000 CAD to support AKHRI’s literacy, numeracy, vocational training, and women’s empowerment programs in Somaliland.
Every step taken on the mountain represented a step toward a brighter future for women and girls who have been denied access to education. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, these funds will directly support educational programs and opportunities for those who need them most.
Most importantly, 100% of donations went directly to AKHRI’s programs. No donated funds were used to cover hiking expenses.
